2022 Winter Garden Poetry Series

Aleyda Marisol Cervantes, or Mari for her familia, is a self-identified third-world woman, who grew up in a small town in Mexico. She attended Fairhaven College and graduated with an Interdisciplinary major titled “Solidarity Across borders: Understanding Experiences and Imagining New Realities through Storytelling” and a minor in Education and Social Justice. She is TEDx presenter and advocates for immigrant communities. She received a grant to study the life of Gloria Anzaldua. Her work appears in PALABRITAS, Acentos Review, Gendering Globalization, Globalizing Gender: Postcolonial Perspectives & We Need a Reckoning: Poetry, essays, and memoir by Women of Color of the Tacoma, Washington region. She currently tries to make time to write and dream a little more in occupied Coast Salish territory.
