Celebrate the arrival of spring and Mother's Day weekend with a variety of family-friendly activities in the beautiful gardens of Lakewold.

Spring is here and Lakewold Gardens is bursting with beautiful blooms! Come outside and savor the season at Mayfest, our annual festival celebrating moms and Mother Nature, with fun family activities to enjoy amongst the bright colors and sweet scents of a multitude of blossoms.

  • Join our garden scavenger hunt with a chance to win a Friends & Family annual membership
  • Picnic and play games with your family on the lawn (picnic snack boxes kits available for purchase)
  • Step up to an easel and paint a still life flower arrangement (11am-1pm Saturday, 10a,-1pm Sunday)
  • Treat mom to a refreshing mocktail (aka MOMtail!) - $2
  • Explore Kvitucha: Ukraine in Bloom, an exhibition of artwork by local Ukrainian artists
    (Artist and curator talk at 1pm Saturday)
  • Make a Mother's Day card and shop for the perfect gift for mom in The Shop
  • Shop our large selection of plants at our spring plant sale—come early for the best selection!

  • Enjoy live music by saxophonist Rob Sabado (11am-1pm Saturday and Sunday) and a special Mother’s Day concert (2pm Sunday) featuring two talented students and their musical mothers performing some sweet duets of violin and piano, and piano four-hands. They are followed by two amazing local musicians: Olympia-based soprano Veronica Deraleau, and pianist and PLU faculty member Lark Powers with a selection of beautiful songs and arias. The performance is about an hour and included with general admission, but be sure to select the concert Add On when purchasing your tickets to reserve your seat.
  • Join the Friday Drop-in Tour for a guided tour of the gardens (11:15am Friday, included with Mayfest admission)
  • Stop by the Membership Table to learn about our new membership program and special offers when you join during the month of May
