Wagner House Art Series

From this year forward, visitors to Lakewold Gardens will now have the opportunity to see artwork in Wagner house. A new featured artist's work will be on display for six weeks every two months. Curator of Art and Music, Joe Williams, occasionally curates visual artists for shorter terms in conjunction with Music from Home concerts. A recent example is the two-week-long June group exhibition of contemporary Armenian art which complimented the "Mountain Sounds" Music from Home program featuring violinist Gayane Grigoryan.

While this overlap between visual art and music is not yet characteristic of all Wagner House exhibits, it a multidisciplinary component that sets us apart from many traditional galleries. The intersection of the visual arts, music, and nature informs how we select and showcase artists' works. Moreover, for each exhibition opening, it is safe to assume there will be an innovative live musical element be it Coyote singing/drumming to welcome his ancestors into the space or a cellist providing dissonant interpretations of Travis Frazelle's visual works.
