Wagner House Art Series

Lakewold's Wagner House Art Series invites underrepresented artists to exhibit their work here, sometimes showing publicly for the first time. The exhibits generate dialogue surrounding issues such as climate change and our role in it; race, cultural heritage, and personal history; new media including data-driven sculptural installation; and artwork in a diverse range of styles and media.

Wagner House offers a unique and flexible setting for exhibitions. Built in 1908 and renovated in 1958 in a classic Georgian style, the space allows for an intimacy of encounter not often experienced in a more typical gallery setting. Here, the artwork is given context by the views of nature that greet guests from every window; indoor and outdoor spaces blur as what is inside converses with what is growing in the gardens.

April 12 - May 26, 2024

Kvitucha (Ukrainian for Blooming) is an example of how beauty can bloom in the face of adversity and a manifestation of the resilience of the human spirit. Nine Ukrainian artists, most of them displaced by the current war in Ukraine and relocated to the Pacific Northwest, are represented in this exhibit. Each of the three rooms of the Wagner House's gallery space will be devoted to the display of a specific style or type of media: 67 pieces including floral paintings in the traditional Petrykivka and Samchykivka styles, Kosiv painted ceramics and Pysanka eggs, as well as more abstract and modern pieces.
